With so many expensive oral chelation scams around this is yet again another demonstration, as if one was still needed, on how we can let food be our medicine! This is added, in keeping with the tradition of this site on self empowerment to the earlier recipes on:
Chelation therapy has been used by conventional medicine to pull lead from people suffering from lead poisoning. Chelation (a Greek term meaning "claws," for it was thought that the chelator "grabbed" the metals from the blood and arteries) therapy is administered intravenously using the chemical agent EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid). Today scientists know that the grabbing that takes place is simply a metaphor for biochemical reaction when a "chelator" contacts a heavy metal.
From the successes of cleaning up toxic amounts of lead from patients, some doctors experimented with EDTA Chelation therapy to remove mercury and aluminum (associated with Alzheimer's disease; and get this; aluminum works with fluoride; fluoride slips through the blood-brain barrier). Now the interesting thing to come from these studies was that patients with cardiovascular disease reported feeling much better, more alive, could exercise longer without angina pains and shortness of breath.
Again, another theory popped up: if you get rid of the heavy metals in your body, you've removed the source of millions of free radicals and the tissues of the body begin to heal themselves, sloughing off the calcium that causes hardening of the arteries.

However, we now have the perfect chelation therapy as reported by Dr Williams, due to the studies from a lowly physician working alone by the name of Dr. Omura*. Dr. Omura found that fresh cilantro removes heavy metals from the body in less than two weeks.
He also discovered that his patients had fewer colds and flu after removing the heavy metals because it seems that viruses and bacteria like to congregate in organs contaminated by heavy metals. His patients also had fewer Herpes outbreaks after removing these heavy metals.
Cilantro is a common Mexican and Middle Eastern spice. It must be used fresh and the stems too are just as good, however, your best chefs use only the leaves because the stems can be bitter. Tossed into a salad is a perfect way to use cilantro, or added to your favorite salsa really perks it up.
Here is a cilantro pesto sauce that will also do the trick. This is the basic recipe, but if you're like me (I approach cooking and love making with reckless abandon), go ahead and play with the recipe. The first time I made the recipe I nearly tripled the oil, lemon juice and garlic, added a dash of cayenne pepper, and got rave reviews.
1 clove garlic
1/2 cup almonds, cashews, or other nuts
1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves (and smaller stems)
2 tablespoons lemon juice (a professional chef recommends just one Tbl of lemon juice)
6 tablespoons olive oil
Celtic Sea Salt to taste (www.healthfree.com is where you can order your salt)
Blend the cilantro and olive oil in a blender, add other ingredients to make a nice smooth paste, then go ahead and add some nuts and/or seeds: pistachio, cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, you name it. Have fun. Add it to your favorite pasta and serve warm or cold. Remember, cayenne pepper added to anything has a synergistic effect, making all the other ingredients work better. Simple fact.
1 medium Anaheim Chili, roasted -- peeled and seeded
3 tablespoons Roasted pumpkin seeds (Shelled) -- (pepitas)
1 large Clove garlic (increase to taste)
1/8 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper (or Cayenne Pepper)
1/2 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
3/4 cup Olive Oil
2 tablespoons Red wine vinegar (ahhh, if building your immune system, use organic apple cider vinegar only)
3 tablespoons Grated cotija cheese
1 small Bunch cilantro -- stemmed (Better still, a packed cup of cilantro leaves)
3/4 cup Mayonnaise (Ahhh! you may substitute, see our Mayonnaise Recipe)
2 tablespoons Water
Note: If cotija cheese is unavailable, use any hard grating cheese, such as cacique or even Parmesan.
Place chili, pepitas, garlic, pepper, salt, oil, vinegar and cotija cheese in blender or food processor. Blend about 10 seconds, then add cilantro, bit by bit, until smoothly blended. Place mayonnaise and water in large stainless-steel bowl and whisk until smooth. Add blended chili mixture and mix thoroughly.
Place in airtight container and refrigerate. Dressing may be stored up to three days. Makes about 2 cups.
Have fun with this. I am always amazed at how many little healthy choices can add up to a very long and fruitful life.

Cilantro is best eaten fresh, as the dried leaves don’t retain all of their healthful properties. The recommended “dose” is 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro leaves and stems per day for 3 weeks. Chlorella -- Chlorella is one of the most researched foods. Because chlorella is a food, it is hard to take to much. It is considered to be one of the best detoxifiers and is able to remove alcohol from the liver and heavy metals, pesticides and PCBs from body tissues. Chlorella can also absorb toxins from the intestines, alter bacterial flora in the bowel (for the better), eliminate intestinal gas and help relieve chronic constipation. About a third of those who try chlorella can't tolerate it. It is possible this is due to a cellulase deficiency. If you have trouble with chlorella, you could try supplementing with cellulase. Because of its ability to bind to heavy metals and other toxins, it makes it a good partner to cilantro.
Cilantro -- Cilantro mobilizes mercury, cadmium, lead and aluminum in the brain and the central nervous system. It is probably the only supplement able to mobilize mercury stored in intracellular spaces and the nucleus of the cell. Cilantro, however, can mobilize more toxins then it can carry out of the body and so may just move the heavy metals to another part of the body. Because of cilantro's inability to remove the mercury from the body after it has been mobilized, it should never be taken alone. It has been found that chlorella works synergistically with cilantro as it has better binding properties. If you don't want to buy cilantro as an herbal, you can buy cilantro and incorporate it in your meals -- salads, salsas or other dishes.
Garlic -- Garlic contains sulphur which oxidizes mercury, cadmium and lead and makes them water-soluble. It is also a potent antimicrobial and antifungal making it effective against candida albicans and parasites. Garlic contains a mineral that protects the body from mercury toxicity. It's called bioactive selenium. Garlic selenium is the best form of selenium available. Raw garlic, of course, would be best. But if you don't like it raw, the next best form would be aged garlic extract such as Kyolic brand. As the sulpher found in garlic is the main reason it is able to oxidize heavy metals, then it might also be helpful to supplement with MSM as it is a form of sulpher.
Chlorophyll -- Chlorophyll is another way to detox heavy metals and is found in large quantity in chlorella as well. In fact it's because of its high level of chlorophyll that chlorella got its name. If you have problems with chlorella then you could try liquid chlorophyll. It's usually advertised as a breath freshener but don't let that fool you. It is also very good at binding to heavy metals and helping to remove them from your body.
Magnesium Malate or Malic Acid -- Malic acid is one of the most potent aluminum detoxifiers. It helps reduce aluminum toxicity of the brain and for that reason could be used to help Alzheimer's Disease. Malic acid has been shown to increase fecal and urinary excretion of aluminum. It can also reduce the amount of aluminum found in the organs and tissues of the body.
N-acetylcysteine or N-A-C -- N-A-C can detox heavy metals as well as raise the level of glutathione. Glutathione is an important antioxidant amino acid which protects against mercury toxicity. N-A-C binds to heavy metals and removes them from the body. N-A-C is one of the most effective oral chelating agents, and if it is taken regularly over a period of time, it will remove many toxic heavy metals.
EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid) -- EDTA is an amino acid. It has been so effective at removing heavy metals from the blood, it has been the standard, FDA-approved treatment for lead, mercury, aluminum and cadmium poisoning for more than 50 years. It is a chelating agent designed to bind and inactivate certain trace metals. EDTA may deplete important vitamins and minerals so you should supplement with a daily multivitamin.
Far Infrared Sauna -- I have one of these also and I can confirm that this type of sauna can really make you sweat and at lower temperatures than conventional saunas. One of the most important pathways for eliminating heavy metals is through the skin by sweating. Most really serious heavy metal detox programs include sweating as one of the primary elements of the program. Below is an article about far infrared saunas to give you a little more information.
Whenever you cause sweating, such as mentioned above, your body is depleted of minerals. Always take an electrolyte drink and a mineral supplement to replace lost minerals. You can drink mineral water while in the sauna or bath. You can create an electrolyte drink using 1/4 teaspoon sea salt and 1/2 lime or lemon squeezed in a glass of water. Doesn't taste so good but it works. You may add a little orange juice or apple juice to sweeten it up a little bit. This is very important. Don't begin any sweating program without planning a way to replace the minerals that are lost.

One thing that is very simple and economical is EPSOM SALT AND SODA BATHS 3x/week. You take one-half cup of Epsom Salt and Baking Soda in a tub of just less than hot water. Soak for 1-20 minutes. I recommend 20 minutes, personally. Massage all parts of your body with your hands or a soft cloth. One to five tablespoons of olive oil can be added as a skin lubricant and emollient.

I have learned that the way you know you are getting enough C for YOUR body is this:
Start taking 2, 1000mg tablets/capsules; 2x/day the first day, then add one daily until you have a loose stool. Once you reach that, back up and take the dose you were taking the day before. This is how much vitamin C you personally need.
