MRSA AND OTHER SUPER BUGS!

This is an area that hits close to home with me.  I have suffered a severe case of MRSA... not fun, in fact one of the worst things to date I have ever had to go through!  I am lucky to be alive today and I truly believe that a great part of my recovery had to do with therapeutic grade essential oils.


MRSA and mutant strains have doctors worried about the latest drug-resistant superbugs. But unlike drugs, essential oils remain effective agains tviruses and bacteria.


MRSA is only the latest in a series of superbugs that received media attention for their resistance to antibiotics and other drugs. But MRSA, SARS, Ebola virus, and other infectious pathogens that can become resistant to drugs continue to respond well to essential oils and other antibacterial and antiviral plant remedies.


What is MRSA? Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, commonly known as MRSA, is a drug-resistant strain of bacteria currently on the rise in hospitals and communities. MRSA typically infects wounds or surgical incisions, but where most staph infections could be treated with methicillin, penicillin or other drugs, MRSA fails to respond.


Doctors working in hospitals and other medical settings are anxious to find a way to stop MRSA – yet as with the earlier scares over SARSand Ebola, few medical professionals consider the versatile solutions offered by natural remedies to which viruses and bacteria can not develop resistance.


Antibacterial, Antiviral, Antifungal, Antimicrobial properties of essential oils... almost every essential oil contains natural chemicals that act as antimicrobial agents, protecting their native plants and acting as the key ingredients in human medicine for millennia.


Essential oils are plant essences distilled or pressed from stems, leaves, fruits and flowers and they are rich in chemicals like phenols, monoterpenes, and ketones - the same chemical molecules that have beenisolated or synthesized by the pharmaceutical industry to make drugs.


Phenols are especially potent against viruses and bacteria, making oregano, eucalyptus, cinnamon, clove, thyme and other slightly caustic essential oils famous for fighting germs and supporting the immune system.


Best of all, because they contain a combination of chemicals that neutralize each other's harmful effects, pure essential oils are non-toxic and have no side effects.


Why don't viruses and bacteria develop resistance to essential oils? For the same reason that there are virtually no harmful side effects to therapeutic-grade essential oils, bacteria and viruses cannot develop resistance to genuine essential oils.


Unlike drugs, whose chemical formulas are precisely modulated and measured, the chemical constituents of an essential oil will vary depending on the amount of rainfall and daylight to which plants are exposed, soil conditions, humidity, elevation, even the time of day at which the plants are harvested. No matter how carefully these variables are controlled, every batch of pure essential oil is going to be slightly different from the one before and the one after.

That slight variance in chemicals from one batch of essential oil to the next is all it takes to prevent fungi, bacteria and viruses from developing resistance to these natural plant remedies – and it's why we can use the same essential oils to fight cold and flu that our ancestors were using centuries ago.


Of course, this doesn't hold true for perfume-grade oils or oils produced in a laboratory to smell a particular way – their chemically modified formulas are consistent enough for pathogens to develop resistance.


Why doesn't modern medicine consider natural options like essential oils a viable alternative for fighting drug-resistant strains of viruses and bacteria? Because they cannot patent or standardize natural remedies, making them much more complicated to administer and almost impossible to use to turn a profit.


A final word of caution: If you're interested in using essentialoils to protect yourself from superbugs like MRSA and SARS, please ensure that the oils you're using are the best quality, properly distilled, and do not have chemical additives or base oils.
